Job Description

La Rabida Children’s Hospital is hiring an Executive Director of Finance for the finance department as a Full-Time job in Chicago, IL.

Job Summary:
The Executive Director of Finance will collaborate with the Vice President of Finance and the Executive Leadership team to direct and implement financial strategies that align with the hospital’s mission and objectives. This role is responsible for leading all financial activities, ensuring they support the hospital's annual goals and core values. The Executive Director will work closely with hospital leadership to develop and execute both short- and long-term strategic, operational, and financial plans. This position plays a key role in driving financial success and operational efficiency across the organization.

Essential Executive Director of Finance Functions:
  • Lead the Finance and Patient Financial Services teams, promoting accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement while managing relationships with external stakeholders like auditors and financial institutions.

  • Oversee the development and execution of fiscal strategies, including budgeting, revenue and expense management, and ensuring efficient, reliable financial systems.

  • Create and improve systems and processes that maximize technological resources to meet operational and business needs, while maintaining strong internal financial controls.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, annual, and ad hoc financial statements and reports, evaluating operational performance and recommending strategies for improvement.

  • Direct the hospital's revenue cycle operations, including billing, denial management, collections, and reimbursement processes, to optimize patient care revenue.

  • Supervise payroll preparation, annual audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting, ensuring compliance with restricted funding requirements and other necessary surveys and filings.

What we need from you:

  • Education : A Degree in accounting, business, or an equivalent education experience is required.  An advanced degree in finance, health care administration, or a related field is a plus
  • Related Work Experience : A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible
    Leadership/supervisory experience. Extensive accounting experience in for-profit and
    non-profit organizations, preferably within the healthcare industry. Experience with
    Workday, Epic, or Stratajazz is a plus
  • Specialized Knowledge and Skills : Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, ability
    to work independently and as a team to solve problems and raise issues and drive
    continuous improvement. Attention to detail and ability to work accurately under tight
    deadlines. Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills; able to take complex
    information and present it in a clear and concise manner.  Must be able to articulate issues in a precise,
    substantive manner.

Compensation Information:
Pay Range: $150 - $225k.
