Job Description

The Executive Director, under general direction, provides leadership for departmental functions to include planning, directing, and evaluating departmental operations for Campus Planning & Space Management. Provides oversight of business activities, strategic planning and development, and program administration. Functions as departmental liaison to customers and represents the University on various committees.

Responsibilities:
  • Serves as the contract administrator for outsources facilities services contracts, ensuring that all contract deliverables are met and renovation projects are fulfilled on time and within budget.
  • Evaluates the condition of all University building and facilities to ensure compliance with health, life and safety building codes. Provides direct oversight of departmental deadlines, day-to-day operations and departmental audits.
  • Develops and implements campus and utilities masterplan. Serves on various State, local and System-wide committees.
  • Ensures facility and space needs are being met and accurately reported. Assures compliance with regulatory inspection and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Ten years of related experience in management.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of accessibility issues and planning mechanisms specific to the American with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and Universal Design.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work individually or as a team.
  • Ability to organize and make decisions.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Science or related field.
  • Experience with Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board space reporting.
  • Experience of State of Texas higher education processes related to facilities and space management.
  • Experience in working with outsourced facilities services contractors.
  • Knowledge of State of Texas procurement methods.
